Does the Vanquish require ATF approval?
Does the Vanquish Require ATF Approval?
Yes, all Angstadt Arms Vanquish models—whether the Vanquish 9 Barrel, Vanquish SBR, or our new Vanquish 22 Barrel—require ATF approval before they can be obtained. Here's why and how each product is categorized under federal law.
Why is ATF Approval Required?
The Vanquish series includes integrally suppressed barrels and suppressor-equipped firearms, which are regulated as NFA (National Firearms Act) items. Under federal law, suppressors and firearms with suppressors are considered NFA-regulated items requiring approval through a Form 4 transfer.
This approval process is mandated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and includes:
- Submission of a completed ATF Form 4.
- Payment of a $200 tax stamp.
- Background checks for the purchaser.
ATF Approval by Vanquish Model
Vanquish Barrels
- Our Vanquish Barrel is an integrally suppressed barrel designed for use with pistol-caliber carbines and .22 LR firearms.
- ATF Category: Classified as a suppressor, requiring a tax stamp and ATF approval.
- Important Note: Only the barrel itself requires NFA approval; the host firearm does not need separate NFA approval unless it falls under another regulated category (e.g., SBR).
Vanquish SBR
- The Vanquish SBR (Short-Barreled Rifle) is a complete firearm that features an integrally suppressed barrel and a short rifle configuration.
- ATF Category: Classified as both a suppressor and a short-barreled rifle (SBR), making it a dual NFA-regulated item.
- Requirements: You will need to file separate tax stamps and ATF approvals for both the suppressor and the SBR configuration.
